From the moment you land in Israel, your bags will journey through many inspections. This is mostly upon entering central bus and train stations across the country, some malls and of course at the airport.
Airport security in Israel can seem daunting but some mental preparation can help take the edge off. The most common questions to travelers will be regarding previous travel destinations, the purpose of your visit, any acquaintances you may have in the country and where you will be staying.

*Keep in mind that Israel maintains a high-security network across the country in order to prevent danger to the public. As a traveler, you should feel safe to report anything that seems suspicious to a security guard.
Throughout your visit to Israel, you are likely encounter mild security checks upon entering closed public spaces. The inspections consist of putting your bag through an automatic screening and walking through a metal detector. At some stations, a security guard may check your bag in person. Over the years Its become a very standard security protocol and locals are now used to it. It doesn't have much affect on the public however it can slow things down a bit during rush hour.
When visiting the West Bank you may cross through a checkpoint where you will be asked to show your passport. On exiting some West Bank cities, security may insist on a bag check. In general, when it comes to crossing checkpoints, taking an organized tour with a local guide can be a smoother process.
There will also be heavy security checks at the land borders between Israel and Jordan and Egypt, similar to general airport security. Just be sure to check your bags thoroughly before arriving at either side of the Israeli border.
